Shiba Inu is an Ethereum-based token launched in 2020 as a meme coin, with an enormous initial supply distributed partly to Vitalik Buterin, who burned much of it. The project later added Shibarium, its own layer-2 network, plus a decentralised exchange and related tokens. It remains driven primarily by community activity rather than by underlying usage.
